The short version

The app needs to know when you are at The Skiff, because that is the whole point of it. It checks your location to answer that one question. It does not keep a history of where you have been, it is never sold or shared with advertisers, and you can delete everything by asking.

Location

The app asks for background location access. Background, because the timer has to keep running while your phone is in your pocket and notice when you walk out — a timer that only worked with the app open would be useless in a pub.

Your phone compares your position to the venue and tells the app one thing: inside, or outside. Your coordinates are never sent to our servers and never stored. What we record is that a stay started, was paused, or finished, and at which venue.

You can refuse location access. The app will not be able to run a timer, which is most of what it does, but nothing else breaks.

What is stored

• Your wallet address. This is your identity here — you sign in by proving you control it. It is public information on Solana already.
• A display name, email address and picture, only if you enter them. All three are optional and the app works without them. Email is used to reach you about your account, not for marketing.
• Your coins. Every hour earned, every coin spent or transferred, with its date. This is a ledger, so it is kept rather than overwritten — otherwise nobody could check a balance was right.
• Stays. When a timer started, paused and finished, and at which venue. Times and venue, not coordinates.
• A push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you your timer paused.

What is on the blockchain

When you transfer coins to your own wallet, that transaction is public and permanent, like every Solana transaction. It shows the amount and the two addresses. It does not carry your name or email, but a wallet address that can be linked to you elsewhere links these transfers to you too. That is how public blockchains work, and it is worth knowing before you transfer.

Who else sees it

Nobody buys this data and nobody is sold it. It sits on a server rented for this app, in Germany. Apple handles push notification delivery, and Solana’s public network carries transfers. That is the entire list.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Deletion is a real button on our side, not a promise: your account, profile, coins and stays are removed.

One exception, and it is not us being awkward: transfers already made on Solana cannot be deleted, by us or anyone. The record of the transfer stays on the blockchain, detached from your account. Nothing can change that, which is also what makes the coins yours.

Children

This app is for a bar. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly keep data about anyone who is.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the app will say so rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
